Dear Diary: My Brother Died Today by Suzanne Gene Courtney was such as a cute and heartwarming story for young children to help them learn how to handle death. The story follows a young girl who’s brother had recently past away and her journey to learn how to handle his passing. The story is written in short journal entries, which I liked. Each entry is also accompanied by a drawing.
My favorite thing overall I would have to say is the creative choices made in the production of the book. Instead of using a set standard font, a font that looked like a child’s handwriting was used, and the drawings looked like they were done by someone age appropriate as well. These details took this heartwarming story and bumped it to the next level.
I am giving Dear Diary: My Brother Died Today by Suzanne Gene Courtney 5/5 stars.
