This Week in Reading (Nov. 1st – Nov. 8th)

Hello my bookish peeps! (Working fandom name) This will be my first “This Week in Reading” post, so before I get started I want to give a brief explanation of what it is, granted it is quite obvious based on the name. This will be a week post on Monday just letting you all know what I am currently reading, and what my reading plans are for the week. So, I’m going to get started!
I am currently reading Dead Until Dark book # 1 in the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. If you do not know, this is the book series in which the TV show True Blood was based on. I had not seen True Blood, but one of my favorite booktubers Bookwormstalk with Hannah had recently read the series and loved it, so I decided to give it a try. I am so far really enjoying it. I’m on page 205/326, so I plan on finishing it up in the next day. It is definitely a good introduction book to the series. I am getting a pretty good understanding of Sookie and Bill the two main characters in the series so far. I like how it has a good amount of contrast between the mystery aspects of the story and romance. I thought it was going to be very heavy in the romance department, but so far I think it has a bit more mystery to it, which I like. Once I finish it up, I will have a review up probably towards the end of this week.
The next two books I plan on reading after Dead Until Dark are Monsterland by Michael Phillip Cash and The Legacy of Skur by L.F. Falconer. These are both books, that I received from the authors for a review, so I am very excited about that. Monsterland is supernatural/paranormal YA that takes place in a Jurassic Park type amusement park, but filled with real monsters. The Legacy of Skur is also a YA novel, but is a fantasy, adventure, mid evil genre based. It is definitely something that is different than my usual read, so it might take me a little longer to finish it, but I enjoy branching out like this. I did have the author L.F. Falconer do a guest post on here last month, and it was a short story and I enjoyed it, so I think I will enjoy The Legacy of Skur.
The final book I plan on reading this week I’m going to knockout on Saturday morning. I already told myself I have 2.5 hours to read it, and that book is Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. I have been beyond excited for this book, since this past spring when the ARC started coming out and everyone and their mother’s started freaking out about it. I finally picked up my own copy this past week, and I really don’t want to wait much longer to read it. I actually will have a post about it, coming out tomorrow as my TBR Tuesday book, so look out for that.
So, those are my reading plans for this week. Comment below what you plan on reading or if you’ve read any of the books I am reading!
